Lepidoptery

In a violent country across the western ocean
lives and breeds a type of moth which feeds
upon the tears of large mammals

Silent, like a handkerchief settling on her face,
its wings will outline the angles of her cheekbones
and it will absorb the salted moisture trembling between her lashes

Satiated, it will rise a silken gesture,
to beat itself against the glass of her windowpanes
and I will trace the dusty imprinture of its effort left there
against the woven fibers of my heart

  1. A most lovely and sad and poignant poem and image.
Is there a single word is our language that expresses that, lovely/sad/poignant?

  2. Wistful? Heartrending? Not sure but there is probably a German word for lovely/sad/poignant.
